Merion Village Gateways Initiative is a comprehensive study undertaken as a collaboration between the Merion Village Association and the Neighborhood Design Center. The purpose of this study is to identify locations to install Merion Village signage and public art, in an effort to build social and economic value in our community. The details of the study will be made public at this meeting.

The 2nd annual Merion Village Neighborhood Block Party will be held on Gates Street near the Red Brick. Gates Street will be closed to traffic and parking from the alley (between Bruck and Washington from 1-9) to Bruck Street for a neighborhood party on August 28th from 2-8. Please invite your neighbors and friends from around Merion Village so that they come out and get to know others from the neighborhood.

- The MVA will contribute burgers, buns, and condiments
- The residents on Gates are contributing grills and additional supplies
- There will be live music and split-the-pot corn hole tournament
- Attendees are requested to bring a side dish to share
- Bring your own drinks
- The Red Brick Inn will also be open for the event
Bring your blankets and popcorn! It’s time for another “Movie in Moeller Park.” This weekend’s feature will be “Big,” starring Tom Hanks. Join us at 9:00 P.M. on Sunday August 7th. This event is sponsored by the MVA Social Club.

Has your attic turned into a crawl space? Can you no longer park your car in the garage? Is it just time for some spring cleaning? If so, take part in the Annual Merion Village Yard sale on Saturday May 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m! Interested in participating? Simply:
- Download an application to be listed on the official Merion Village Yard Sale map.
- Drop off or mail your application to the Merion Village Information Center at 1330 South Fourth St. Make sure that it is to the Information center by Friday April 30th at 5:00 P.M. (Please highlight items that will entice “oohing” and “ahhing” on your application)
- Gather stuff from every nook and cranny of your house, garage, or shed (Feel free to raid your family or friends’ houses, too).
- Price your stuff and set up on the morning of Saturday May 8th.
- Barter, haggle, unburden and make money!

With the flakes of snow flying, it’s hard to imagine that preparations for our annual garden tour are already under way! This year’s tour will be on Saturday July 11, 2010 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.

Nothing says the holidays like cool weather, snow, friends, family, and Merion Village’s “Village of Lights” contest! Gather your friends, family, and neighbors this Saturday, December 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. to stroll around the village and look at the stunning displays of our 25 contestants! Winners will be announced and awards presented this Wednesday December 9 at the Merion Village Holiday Potluck!

If you’ve ever envied Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold) in “A Christmas Vacation,” this event is for you! Enter your home in the Merion Village Association’s “Village of Lights.” Compete for the best decorated door, the best holiday spirit and more! If competition isn’t your thing but you’d still like to participate, that’s fine too!
